Obama is "deeply saddened" vs "shocked and outraged" - which was the soldier which was Tiller?

The White House finally got around to releasing a statement on the jihadi attack against our troops at the Arkansas military recruitment center.

Here is the entire statement:
“I am deeply saddened by this senseless act of violence against two brave young soldiers who were doing their part to strengthen our armed forces and keep our country safe. I would like to wish Quinton Ezeagwula a speedy recovery, and to offer my condolences and prayers to William Long’s family as they mourn the loss of their son.”
“Senseless?” It made perfectly good sense to a vengeful Muslim convert jihadi bent on “killing as many people in the Army as he could.”

For contrast, here is Obama’s full statement on the Tiller murder, issued just hours after the shooting:
I am shocked and outraged by the murder of Dr. George Tiller as he attended church services this morning. However profound our differences as Americans over difficult issues such as abortion, they cannot be resolved by heinous acts of
violence.
Caleb Howe is underwhelmed:
“It’s in keeping with the Obama administration’s passive language, such as the euphemisms “overseas contingency operation” or “man-caused disaster” … Obama’s statement on the murder of Pvt. William A. Long is just as passive in voice and blame. He’s not outraged, he’s saddened. Not by someone who committed a “heinous act” but rather by a senseless violence. It might have been a bolt of lightning for all the pushback Obama has to share.

He waits three days and then the best he can muster is an abstract sadness at something that, judging by his statement, might well have been a mere accident of fate…

"Suspect arrested in Arkansas recruiting center shooting," from CNN, June 1 (thanks to Don):

(CNN) -- An Arkansas man was arrested Monday in connection with a shooting at a Little Rock military recruiting center that killed one soldier and wounded nother, authorities said.

Abdulhakim Mujahid Muhammad -- a 24-year-old Little Rock resident formerly known as Carlos Bledsoe -- faces a first-degree murder charge and 15 counts of engaging in a terrorist act, Little Rock Police Chief Stuart Thomas said. The terrorist counts stem from the shots fired at an occupied building.

The soldier who was killed was identified as Pvt. William Long, 24, of Conway, and the wounded soldier is Pvt. Quinton Ezeagwula, 18, of Jacksonville, Thomas said....

Although military officials initially believed that the shooting was a random act, Thomas said police think the shooter acted alone "with the specific purpose of targeting military personnel."...

Thomas said police recovered three guns from Muhammad's black Ford SUV: an SKS semi-automatic rifle, a .22-caliber rifle and a pistol....

Abdulhakim Mujahid Muhammad had "political and religious motives." -- so says "Shooter, Victims Identified in West LR Shooting," from KATV7.com, June 1 (thanks to Benedict).

2 Soldiers shot at Little Rock Recruiting Center - 1 dies

One Dead, One Injured in West Little Rock Shooting
from KATV7 NEWS
posted 06/01/09 1:03 pm

Little Rock - One person is dead, another seriously injured, and a third is in custody following a double shooting in west Little Rock Monday morning.

Authorities say the incident occurred around 10:00 a.m. at a U.S. Army Navy Career Center inside the Ashley Square Shopping Center at 9112 North Rodney Parham Road. According to Lt. Terry Hastings with the Little Rock Police Department, two enlisted soldiers standing outside the office were hit when the unidentified suspect drove up and began shooting.

Both of the wounded were taken to a nearby hospital, where one of the victims died a short time later, according to police.

The suspect led police on a brief pursuit towards downtown Little Rock, before being taken into custody in the area of the Interstate 30/630 interchange. According to the Little Rock Fire Department, a bomb squad was called to the scene to investigate a suspicious package inside the suspect's vehicle. Authorities say the search was based on information that the SUV had explosives inside. A two-block area around the scene has been evacuated.

Hastings said a little after noon that investigators had not yet questioned the suspect. Police were still at the recruiting office processing evidence from the crime scene.

Hastings said he did not know whether the recruiting office was specifically targeted by the attacker or randomly chosen.

Neither the victims nor suspects were named by authorities.

According to Army Lt. Col. Thomas F. Artis, the two victims were not recruiters, but part of a recruiting program called "Hometown Recruiting Assistance." Artis says recruiters use soldiers to tell their stories and talk to potential recruits while they are visiting or based back in their home region.

Real Men Fight The Taliban Wearing Pink Boxer Shorts - Yes, really...

Moment teenage soldier went into battle against Taliban... wearing 'I love New York' pink boxer shorts

from The Daily Mail Online
By Mail Foreign Service

Taking on the Taliban in pink boxer shorts, t-shirt and flip-flops is not regarded as conventional military uniform.

Especially when the shorts declare 'I love New York'.

However when Zachary Boyd, 19, was woken up by a Taliban assault on his platoon he only had time to grab his weapon, helmet and body armour before springing into action.

Zachary Boyd had been asleep when the firefight erupted in the mountains of Afghanistan. So he only had time to put on his helmet, body armour and grab his weapon.

Most of the time his appearance on the Afghanistan's frontline would have gone unnoticed by the eyes of the world.

However, Boyd managed to pick the day when a photographer was on hand to capture him going into battle in the pink boxers, red t-shirt and flimsy footwear.

The image of the fight at Firebase Restrepo in the Korengal Valley of Kunar Province later ended up on the front page of The New York Times.

'I knew he was a boxer guy. I knew that for sure. I did not know they were pink, and I didn't know they said, 'I love New York,' father Tommy Boyd told his local Texas radio station WBAP.

'After I saw the picture I just laughed for about five minutes.'

On seeing the picture, Boyd's father said: 'I knew he was a boxer guy. I did not know they were pink, and I didn't know they said, 'I love New York'. Boyd, right, joined the Army because of the September 11 attacks

Boyd phoned his mother Sheree Boyd to warn her that he might be in the paper.

He said: "I hear the Times is what they put on the President's desk",' she said.

Then he told us, "I may not have a job any more after the President has seen me out of uniform".

It was typical. He has always been an interesting little character.

Boyd, who graduated from Keller Central High School in 2007, decided to join the army because of the September 11 attacks.

He was promoted to the rank of Army Specialist last week.
