N. Korea tells the U.S. to change policy

North Korea will not come back to the negotiation table unless the United States and South Korea give up their "hostile policy" toward the communist nation, North Korean state media said Sunday, according to Yonhap News.

"No matter what nonsense the Lee group may say under the clutches of the U.S., the DPRK remains unchanged in its determination and declaration made to protect the dignity and sovereignty of the nation," North Korea's Cabinet newspaper, the Minju Joson, said in a commentary carried by the Korean Central News Agency.

It also said the North will never attend the six-party talks aiming to end Pyongyang's nuclear program, and will strengthen its nuclear power no matter what other nations have agreed in the six-party talks that also include the U.S., China and South Korea.

Since its rocket launch last month, the North has pledged to carry out its second nuclear test despite U.N. sanctions. It has also threatened to shut down an industrial complex run jointly with the South, a symbol of inter-Korean reconciliation achieved by former liberal South Korean governments.

U.S. Flag Stays On Top - Or Not At All

I applaud this Veteran for doing this. The bar owner had already been told that the American Flag goes on top. He chose to leave it flying under the Mexican Flag.

Why doesn't the owner of the bar take a step back for a moment and consider if he was back in Mexico. Would he want to drive around Mexico and see the American flag flying on top of the Mexican flag? Hell no he wouldn't. If you can't show the proper respect for the American flag, then you shouldn't fly it.

Ahmadinejad Calls For Eradication of Israel

Would this be the same Ahmadinejad that Obama wants to have direct talks with? It is? Gee, Barry, do you still want to go through with it? I guess you probably do. Lately, you seem to be surrounding yourself with some fine individuals.

Delegates walk out on Ahmadinejad at Geneva

As Iran's President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad called for the eradication of Israel in his address to the United Nations anti-racism conference whichopened its week long event in Geneva on Monday, delegates walked out, hecklers wearing clown-wigs shouted 'racist' towards him and were escorted uot by security personnel and his speech was continually interrupted.

"Governments must be encouraged and supported in their fights at eradicating this barbaric racism. Efforts must be made to put an end to Zionism," he said in the rambling speech he gave at the podium.

As he spoke, some 23 EU delegates were seen walking out the room when Ahmadinejad said Israel was created on the "pretext of Jewish suffering" from World War II.

Ahmadinejad began his speech by pointing the finger at the United States, Europe and Israel and said they were destabilizing the entire world. "Those in authority at the time set off two world wars," Ahmadinejad said, in an accusation directed at Western powers. He went on to accuse those powers of "killing hundred of millions of people and causing mass destruction" also in Africa and Asia.

"Those who won [the Second World War], considered that the world was with them," he said, and "set up laws that were oppressive and trampling."

Ahmadinejad then went on to criticize the UN: "The Security Council set up after World War II, let's analyze it. The veto vote - is that equality? Is that justice? Is that equality amongst human beings?" he asked, "Or rather is it arrogance and humiliation? The Security Council must be the most important body for decision-making in order to promote peace. If a law is based on force, how can we secure peace and justice? The seeking of power and arrogance means racism, injustice and occupation."

At this point the Iranian president's speech moved to the subject of Israel and the Palestinians.

"As was the case after World War II, armies occupied other territories and people were transferred from territories. In reality, under the pretext of compensating for the evil done in the name of xenophobia, they in fact set up the most violent xenophobes, in Palestine."

"The Security Council made it possible for that illegitimate government to be set up. For 60 years, this government was supported by the world. Many Western countries say they are fighting racism; but in fact support it with occupation, bombings and crimes such as those committed in Gaza. These countries support the criminals," Ahmadinejad said.

Just as Ahmadinejad took the podium at the opening of the international anti-racism conference in Geneva on Monday, two men in multi-colored clown wigs stood up from both sides of the conference hall and tried to reach the podium. One of the men threw a soft red object at Ahmadinejad.

He was immediately escorted out of the hall by security personnel. In his opening remarks, Ahmadinejad called the man "ignorant."

Calls from the balcony were heard throughout the speech.

Still, the majority of the delegates greeted the Iranian president with a round of applause. [absolutely disgusting - my comments]

Ahmadinejad also blamed Israel for America's invasion of Iraq, which he said benefited Israeli arms sales.

He spoke to the UN assembly on the eve of Holocaust Memorial Day, which commemorates the slaughter of six million Jews by the Nazis during World War II.

Later, at a question-and-answer session with reporters, Ahmadinejad protected the views he presented in his speech.

The protesters wanted to prevent the crowd from hearing "all points of view," he said, and were hurting the "freedom of information" and "freedom of speech."

France's ambassador to the UN, Jean Baptiste Mattéi, told the France 24 TV network "We don't want to repeat what happened in Durban… it's not against the conference, but we cannot share the views expressed by Ahmadinejad. We wanted to make this clear."

Hugo Chavez: 'Capitalism needs to go down'

TEHRAN, Iran (AP) - Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez on Friday ridiculed the G-20 summit's attempts to deal with the global financial meltdown, saying that capitalism is in crisis and must end.

Chavez criticized the G-20 nations' pledges of more than a trillion dollars for lending to struggling countries at Thursday's summit in London, calling it "the same medicine that's killing the patient—a trillion dollars ... more money for a bottomless pit."

Speaking during a visit to Iran, the Venezuelan leader said the plans by the Group of 20 industrial and developing countries would strengthen "one of the great guilty ones behind the crisis: the International Monetary Fund."

The IMF and the World Bank are "tools of imperialism" and must be eliminated, Chavez said.
In earlier remarks, he also blamed the United States and Britain, calling them "the most guilty" for the financial crisis sweeping the globe because of the financial model "they've been imposing for years."

"It's impossible that capitalism can regulate the monster that is the world financial system, it's impossible," Chavez told Venezuela's state TV late Thursday. "Capitalism needs to go down. It has to end. And we must take a transitional road to a new model that we call socialism."

Iran's president, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, shared that critique, saying "some decisions by the world leaders cannot restore dead imperialism."

The two leaders, appearing Friday at the inauguration of joint commercial bank, referred to their nations as the "G-2." In recent years, Chavez and Ahmadinejad—both well-known for their anti-U.S. rhetoric—have boosted economic and political ties.

The G-20 leaders on Thursday promised $1.1 trillion for lending to struggling countries. They also vowed major efforts to clean up banks' tattered balance sheets, get credit flowing again, shut down global tax havens and tighten regulation over hedge funds and other financial high-flyers in the U.S. and elsewhere.

Chavez said the summit's efforts were not what the world needs "in the face of the great crisis of global capitalism."

Chavez's own economic program to institute socialism in Venezuela could slow as his country's oil-dependent economy suffers from falling crude prices. Inflation there has soared above 30 percent, eroding Venezuelans' salaries.

In his decade in power, Chavez has boosted state control over the economy and spent heavily on social programs meant to increase his popularity. [sounds like what Obama is doing!]
