Some of us have been warning that it was not healthy for the U.S. media to have deified rather than questioned Obama, especially given that they tore apart Bush, ridiculed Palin, and caricatured Hillary. And now we can see the results of their two years of advocacy rather than scrutiny.
We are quite literally after two weeks teetering on an Obama implosion—and with no Dick Morris to bail him out—brought on by messianic delusions of grandeur, hubris, and a strange naivete that soaring rhetoric and a multiracial profile can add requisite cover to good old-fashioned Chicago politicking.

Obama names “most fined” Washington State bureaucrat to HUD

Barack Obama didn’t do much except run for President during his four years in the US Senate, but he did partner with Tom Coburn on transparency in budgeting. That accomplishment allowed for some hope that Obama would work to make the federal government more transparent. Unfortunately, as our friend Stefan Sharkansky reports from Sound Politics, Obama’s appointment of Ron Sims to the #2 position at HUD sends exactly the opposite message. A court levied the biggest fine for illegal record withholding against Sims in Washington State history — and that record hasn’t finished yet:
Sims is culpable for what may well become the largest fine for violations of public records laws in U.S. history: see Yousoufian, Armen
My own public records suit against Sims (for delaying release of election records which revealed that King County officials unlawfully counted hundreds of ineligible ballots in the 2004 governor’s race) goes to trial in April.

Here are some great comments:
Seriously, though, when you’re picking nominees from a field of liberals - and hoping for people of high ethics - you’re drawing to an inside straight. A good many Democrat officials get where they are by cheating, gouging, lying, slandering, bullying and denying the truth. When the cream hits the surface, it’s already starting to stink.

Got to give Obama high marks for consistency. If there’s a crook out there, Obama will find him and appoint him to something, anything.

And yet people are naive enough to think that Obama somehow stayed out of the middle of true Chicago politics and that he’s squeaky clean.

Cheney warns of new attacks
When we get people who are more concerned about reading the rights to an Al Qaeda terrorist than they are with protecting the United States against people who are absolutely committed to do anything they can to kill Americans, then I worry,” Cheney said.
Protecting the country’s security is “a tough, mean, dirty, nasty business,” he said. “These are evil people. And we’re not going to win this fight by turning the other cheek.”
The choice, he alleged, reflects a naive mindset among the new team in Washington: “The United States needs to be not so much loved as it needs to be respected. Sometimes, that requires us to take actions that generate controversy. I’m not at all sure that that’s what the Obama administration believes.”

'Mother' of Female Suicide Bombing Network In Iraq Is Arrested - Her Confession Is Beyond Belief
from Holger Awakens Blogspot
I'm telling you...this is one of the most disgusting things I have ever come across - these women in Iraq were targeted, raped and then introduced to this monster of a woman for consoling and her job was to convince them to blow themselves up so they could be rid of the shame and guilt of the rape. We saw time and time again the lengths to which al Qaeda in Iraq would stoop in the Iraq War but nothing, nothing in my mind equals this depravity. This is evil, folks. Pure. Unadultered. Straight from Hell. Evil.

Mother' of Iraqi women bomber network arrested
By QASSIM ABDUL-ZAHRA and BRIAN MURPHY
Associated Press Writers
BAGHDAD (AP) - A woman accused of helping recruit dozens of female suicide bombers looked into the camera and described the process: trolling society for likely candidates and then patiently converting the women from troubled souls into deadly attackers.
The accounts, in a video released Tuesday by Iraq police, offer a rare glimpse into the networks used to find and train the women bombers who have become one of the insurgents' most effective weapons as they struggle under increasing crackdowns.
In a separate prison interview with The Associated Press, with interrogators nearby, the woman said she was part of a plot in which young women were raped and then sent to her for matronly advice. She said she would try to persuade the victims to become suicide bombers as their only escape from the shame and to reclaim their honor.

Given the stunningly clueless vetting of cabinet and other selections thus far made by the president for, among others, Secretary of the Treasury (Timothy Geithner), Secretary of Health and Human Services (Tom Daschle), Secretary of Commerce (Bill Richardson), and the nation’s first "Chief Performance Officer" (Nancy Killifer, in a role which leaves me wondering why we need another government employee to eradicate redundancy), even the propagandists at Pravda on the Hudson (a.k.a. The New York Times) must be scratching their liberal heads and quietly wondering amongst themselves: "what the heck is going on here?" Is this "change," or is it more like a bad parody of the Keystone Kops?
Of course, the "heck" going on here--and the common theme joining all of these folks in a very sticky thread--is the fact that all of them knew or should have known of either the "cronyism/pay-to-play" skeleton in the closet, as with Richardson, or the "tax-man" skeleton in the basement, as with all the others, long before accepting the nomination of the president to serve in any particular official capacity. And yet each, with or without the knowledge of the new president, arrogantly pushed forward in the expectation that nothing could derail their candidacies. They were, after all, chosen by the Chosen One himself.

UN: Hamas stole from Gaza warehouse
By BRENDA GAZZAR, YAAKOV KATZ AND ELANA KIRSH
Armed Hamas policemen broke into a warehouse in Gaza City and confiscated thousands of blankets and hundreds of food packages intended for UNWRA refugees, an official from the relief and human development agency said on Wednesday.
The incident took place on Tuesday after the Ministry of Social Affairs unsuccessfully tried to confiscate food and other UNRWA supplies that were being transported to the organization's storage areas and the agency's staff resisted, said John Ging, UNRWA's operations director in the Gaza Strip.
A few Hamas policemen confiscated 3,500 blankets and more than 400 food packages prepared for distribution from an UNRWA warehouse on Tuesday afternoon, he said.
"They took it under gunpoint," Ging told The Jerusalem Post from the UNRWA headquarters in Gaza City. "My staff had resisted earlier the confiscation of the convoy, as they are absolutely instructed to do…Compliments to them for that, but unfortunately, later, they came and took it by gunpoint."

Kyrgyzstan to close U.S. base used to supply Afghanistan

Kyrgyzstan to close U.S. base used to supply Afghanistan
By Tom Lasseter, Mcclatchy Newspapers – Tue Feb 3, 3:23 pm ET
MOSCOW — In a setback to the escalating U.S. military efforts in Afghanistan , the president of Kyrgyzstan said Tuesday that his government will shut down the American air base in his country.
U.S. officials say that the Manas Air Base is vital to plans to send an additional 30,000 American troops to Afghanistan , a linchpin of President Barack Obama's efforts to pacify the country.
It's a direct challenge to the new American administration. Russia is going out of its way to close an American base," said Pavel Felgenhauer , a Moscow -based military analyst.
Two weeks ago, Gen. David Petraeus , the head of the U.S. Central Command, which oversees American military operations in the Middle East and south Asia , said that senior Kyrgyz officials had assured him that there were no discussions between the country and Russia about closing the base in exchange for aid.

The EU threatened to retaliate if the US Congress went ahead with sweeping measures in its $800 billion (£554 billion) stimulus plan to restrict spending to American goods and services.

A Round-Up of Obama's Staggering Hypocrisy
A Round-Up of Obama's Staggering Hypocrisy

What do they say, “reality used to be a friend of mine”? Has anyone been such an abstract failure in his first 2 weeks in office? And it is really simple to explain, too. Due to his lack of any experience as an Executive, and due to his inexperience as even a Washington-based politician, Obama had absolutely no idea how to govern - or what it would take to lead from the White House. This is why he was able to make so many outlandish statements and promises that even people in his own party would not make - they knew he could not keep those promises. But the American people were feeling Hopey and Changey. Now Obama is realizing that criticizing and campaigning is a lot easier than actually leading.
What a failure.

US President Barack Obama has already used experts within the last few months to hold high-level but discreet talks with both Iran and Syria, organizers of the meetings told AFP... However, even before winning the November 4 election, Obama unofficially used what experts call "track two" discussions to approach America's two foes in the region...

Another Foreign Policy Bungle - Obama Ticks Off Europe: "Worst Signal He Could Send"
It didn't take long. Less than two weeks after his inauguration, Barack Hussein Obama's managed to embolden North Korea, taken a slap in the face from Russia, and made himself and the nation look silly as he pursued Mahmoud Ahmadinejad of Iran. Now he's done the unthinkable. He's angering Europe.
Incompetence and inexperience show themselves quickly on the world stage, and with Obama's call to "buy American," he's managed to turn the headlines from glowing to glowering in record time.
Take a look at this one from Jan 21 - EU: Obama inauguration creates new opportunities for enhancing transatlantic ties
Nice, right? Your typical Obama love-fest. Now look at this one from today - EU attacks Obama 'buy American' plan as new Iron Curtain.
Oops. That's in just two weeks. Imagine what he can do in four years.
Britain and Europe were today embroiled in the first big row with Barack Obama - and it was over free trade.
The US president's plan for a "Buy American" rule in his £825billion economic stimulus package was condemned as a dangerous retreat into protectionism.
The clause decrees that only American-made iron, steel and goods can be bought for projects funded by the recovery package.
A European Commission spokesman dubbed it the "worst possible signal" that the new presidency could give to the world.

Wilders Prosecution is a Welcome Opportunity to Expose Islam
From the blog: Islam In Action
This is a very strong article written by Dr. Sami Alrabaa. It tells us how the upcoming Geert Wilder's trial can be used to our advantage against Islam. Dr. Alrabaa will be a regular contributor to Islam in Action, but more importantly he has been asked by Wilders to join his defense team as an expert witness on Islam. I look forward to posting updates on the trial as I get them.

Prosecuting Geert Wilders, member of the Dutch Parliament, is a welcome opportunity to expose fascist Islam and radical Muslims. Wilders and his lawyers do not need to go far away to fetch crystal clear evidence that Islam, i.e. the Koran and Hadith incite to violence and hatred, and radical Muslims are behind numerous crimes against humanity.

Obama Administration Annouces New Tax Form for Current and Future Staffers

From the Website: The Powers That Be
Today it was announced that President Obama’s nominee for Secretary of Health and Human Services, Tom Daschle, as well as Obama’s nominee to be chief performance officer, Nancy Killefer, have both withdrawn their nominations due to tax avoidance issues.
Tim Geithner was confirmed earlier as Treasury Secretary in spite of similar problems.
In order to avoid future embarassment, the Obama Administration has announced the creation of the “1040 SLEE-Z” form for current and potential members of the Obama Administration.
“The intent of the new tax form,” pointed out White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs, “is to alert the president to who may have a penchant for tax evasion while at the same time not causing any current or potential staff member to alter their lifestyle or to suffer embarrassment. As you know, it’s the president’s policy to ‘unclench the fist’ of tax evaders.”
Here’s the new tax form:

Daniel Pearl and the Normalization of Evil

By JUDEA PEARL
Wall Street Journal - Opinion Journal
When will our luminaries stop making excuses for terror?
This week marks the seventh anniversary of the murder of our son, former Wall Street Journal reporter Daniel Pearl. My wife Ruth and I wonder: Would Danny have believed that today's world emerged after his tragedy?
The answer does not come easily. Danny was an optimist, a true believer in the goodness of mankind. Yet he was also a realist, and would not let idealism bend the harshness of facts.
Neither he, nor the millions who were shocked by his murder, could have possibly predicted that seven years later his abductor, Omar Saeed Sheikh, according to several South Asian reports, would be planning terror acts from the safety of a Pakistani jail. Or that his murderer, Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, now in Guantanamo, would proudly boast of his murder in a military tribunal in March 2007 to the cheers of sympathetic jihadi supporters. Or that this ideology of barbarism would be celebrated in European and American universities, fueling rally after rally for Hamas, Hezbollah and other heroes of "the resistance." Or that another kidnapped young man, Israeli Gilad Shalit, would spend his 950th day of captivity with no Red Cross visitation while world leaders seriously debate whether his kidnappers deserve international recognition.

Obama Made a Rash Decision on Gitmo
The president will soon realize that governing involves hard choices.
By JOHN YOO of the Wall Street Journal
During his first week as commander in chief, President Barack Obama ordered the closure of Guantanamo Bay and terminated the CIA's special authority to interrogate terrorists.
While these actions will certainly please his base -- gone are the cries of an "imperial presidency" -- they will also seriously handicap our intelligence agencies from preventing future terrorist attacks. In issuing these executive orders, Mr. Obama is returning America to the failed law enforcement approach to fighting terrorism that prevailed before Sept. 11, 2001. He's also drying up the most valuable sources of intelligence on al Qaeda, which, according to CIA Director Michael Hayden, has come largely out of the tough interrogation of high-level operatives during the early years of the war.
The question Mr. Obama should have asked right after the inaugural parade was: What will happen after we capture the next Khalid Sheikh Mohammed or Abu Zubaydah? Instead, he took action without a meeting of his full national security staff, and without a legal review of all the policy options available to meet the threats facing our country.
What such a review would have made clear is that the civilian law-enforcement system cannot prevent terrorist attacks. What is needed are the tools to gain vital intelligence, which is why, under President George W. Bush, the CIA could hold and interrogate high-value al Qaeda leaders. On the advice of his intelligence advisers, the president could have authorized coercive interrogation methods like those used by Israel and Great Britain in their antiterrorism campaigns. (He could even authorize waterboarding, which he did three times in the years after 9/11.)

Iran's first spy satellite launch Tuesday signifies nuclear-capable rocket in hand
DEBKAfile Special Report
February 3, 2009, 6:52 PM (GMT+02:00)
The launch of Omid (Hope), Iran's first home-made satellite into orbit early Tuesday, Feb. 3, is a breakthrough demonstrating the Islamic Republic has managed to develop long-range, three-stage, solid-fuel ballistic rockets capable of carrying nuclear warheads.
Israel and Western officials have been playing down this fast-developing capability while proving helpless to hold back Iran's nuclear weapons program. Omid was launched by the Safir rocket, whereas a previous launching was boosted by a Russian rocket.
DEBKAfile's Iranian sources report the new satellite is designed for tracking, research, telecommunications and carries digital measuring instruments. They stress that it is a feather in the hat for Iran's "Military Group" – the team of scientists and technicians working on its clandestine nuclear bomb program. They are clearly moving ahead undisturbed by UN sanctions or technical difficulties toward rapidly finishing work on nuclear warheads for their ballistic rockets.
In weekend interviews, International Atomic Energy Agency director Muhammad ElBaradei contributed to the international effort to talk down Tehran's nuclear advances. He admitted Iran was in the process of constructing nuclear weapons despite his agency's monitoring efforts. But in his view it needed another two to five years to attain this objective. He therefore advised the West to try and negotiate an accord with Iran through diplomacy.
Our sources point out that ElBaradei's remarks were misleading. His remarks referred only to Iran's overt nuclear program, namely uranium enrichment, but ignored the clandestine facilities where Iran is making big strides toward a nuclear weapon.

Obama performance chief Killefer out, citing taxes
Wow! What a shock, another Obama nominee with tax issues.
Obama performance chief Killefer out, citing taxes
By MICHAEL J. SNIFFEN and LIZ SIDOTI, Associated Press Writer Michael J. Sniffen And Liz Sidoti, Associated Press Writer
WASHINGTON – Nancy Killefer, who failed for a year and a half to pay employment taxes on household help, withdrew her candidacy to be the first chief performance officer for the federal government on Tuesday.
Killefer was the second major Obama administration nominee to withdraw and the third to have tax problems complicate nominations after President Barack Obama announced he had chosen them.
In a brief letter to Obama, the 55-year-old executive with consulting giant McKinsey & Co. wrote that she had "come to realize in the current environment that my personal tax issue of D.C. unemployment tax could be used to create exactly the kind of distraction and delay" that must be avoided in responding to urgent economic problems.
She offered no further details of her tax difficulties.
Obama took no questions Tuesday after announcing his choice of Sen. Judd Gregg to be commerce secretary. He left the White House lectern ignoring a shouted question about why so many of his nominees have tax problems.
When Killefer's selection was announced by Obama on Jan. 7, The Associated Press disclosed that in 2005 the District of Columbia government had filed a $946.69 tax lien on her home for failure to pay unemployment compensation tax on household help. Since then, administration officials have refused to answer questions about the tax error, which she resolved five months after the lien was filed.

With little more than a week in office, there is so much stuff, not even policy-related, on this creep that exposes him as a narcissistic, petulant, hypocritical man-child-pig. But outside of the moronsphere, where is this stuff? It's not even hidden. You don't have to have the memory of an elephant to remember Barry's Greek temple to his own damn self, his personalized Prezzydenshul Seal... the thermostat story is right out there, if one simply mentions that Barry himself set the thermostat... but they never do. The wagyu steak, the fortune spent on his coming out party/inauguration... If any Republican had pulled this sh*t, it would be on every cable show, and I don't mean news. It would be on Oprah, Dr. Phil, on Good Morning America, on and on. The MSM is far more dangerous to liberty and democracy than Barry. Prediction: MSM will make the excuse for Barry that "he has to keep the temperature high to preserve the precious historic decor and paintings." And it will be a lie as well. But they will cover for him.

Obama's major accomplishments in 12 days
A great update on the incredible job Obama has done so far:
68 Obama's major accomplishments in 12 days:
- The Iranians made him look stupid by demanding THEIR preconditions to talk.
- The North Koreans decided he's a rollover if they attack Seoul.
- He pulled the rug out from under Poland & the Czechs on missile defense
- He's intent on gutting our military
- His OWN party is worrying about his "stimulus" package
- He told Arabs he wants to revert to circa 1979: the age of the Hostage Crisis
- He launched an assault on Rush Limbsugh's Freedom of Speech
- He was exposed as an energy conservation hypocrite by turning the Oval Office into a sauna.
- Half his cabinet is composed of tax cheats
- He's on the brink of a major trade war with Europe.
All in 12 DAYS.
Folks, this is staggering. Most disastrous Presidential Honeymoon, EVER. Epic destruction on a scale that would make Cecile B. DeMill blush. Just really, really bad.
In 4 years, Obama is going to feel the world is a black suit, and he's a pair of brown shoes...

99 I know! It's the most amazing thing I've ever seen in my life! I get up each morning, just to discover what hellacious thing has happened now!
I was terrified of having Obama as president as of last summer, once I'd read up on him and his goals, understood his associates, and seen how he and his party treated people. Day after the election, I woke up with a sense of existential dread I couldn't shake.
But - I told myself I was being silly. I let myself think he would really be the centrist people kept saying he would be. I mean, John McCain said he was okay; all the politicians acted like he was normal, and all that.
But in less than two weeks! In less than two weeks he has gone in like a bull in a china shop, except he's INTENT on breaking all the china!
On the other hand, it is kind of entertaining. It's amusing that practically every single thing he puts his hand to, he botches. Either in terms of what I would like (i.e., it's the exact opposite of what I would like), or in simple terms of awkwardness, ineptness, lack of grace, and buffoonery.
In any case, it is definitely the craziest thing I have ever, EVER witnessed in my entire life.
