They murdered her in cold blood- Marcus Lattrell regarding his yellow lab named Dasy

Marcus Luttrell is a true American Hero. He represents Honor, Courage, Strength and absolute Love of Country. He is out of the mold of Heroes that made this Country possible and continue to protect her to this day.

I cannot find the words that properly describe what he went through serving his Country. I can only say 'Thank You" to Marcus, but also let him know that there are many more Americans like me that feel the same way as I do.

I know from experience the unconditional love that a dog gives you. When they look at you, all they see is someone they love. There are no 'kind of's', or 'maybe's'. They just do. If a person truly has the ability to love, it would be hard to imagine that person not being able to love a dog.

Society should be concerned about those that can commit a cold-blooded killing like this. I wouldn't want them living in my neighborhood.

Apparently a group of scum bag teens were big fans of Michael Vick, because 'for fun' they have been driving around Texas shooting dogs. As if shooting dogs wasn't horrible enough, one of the dogs they executed belonged to an American hero -- Marcus Luttrell.

The dog, named Dasy (each letter representing one of Luttrells fallen team members) had been given to him to help him with the healing process after going through absolute hell in Afghanistan (see Lone Survivor). Needless to say, this dog meant absolutely everything to him. Marcus heard the gunshot, saw the punks and chased them until he finally caught them. These wastes of skin are only alive because Marcus let them live

Couple spends $155,000 to clone dead dog

Their beloved Lab had died of cancer; ‘we have gotten negative feedback’

from the TODAYShow.com

The miracle of life made an encore for Edgar and Nina Otto. A year after their beloved yellow Labrador retriever, Lancelot, died of cancer, the Florida couple welcomed a cloned copy into their home Tuesday. They’ve dubbed their doggie double “Lancelot Encore.”

Speaking live with Al Roker via satellite on TODAY Wednesday, Edgar Otto said that it only took the 10-week-old puppy a few hours to assume his forebear’s place of preeminence in the family’s large menagerie, which includes nine other dogs.

“This morning, when the pack runs from the bedroom into the kitchen, he led the pack, which the old Lancelot did,” Edgar told Roker. “This is a puppy, 10 weeks old, and he led the pack!”

Nina added, “We noticed that he bonded immediately, within an hour, with every other pet in the house.”

Springing into auction

To be sure, the Ottos love their animals. On their 12-acre spread in West Boca, Fla., the couple tend to four birds, 10 cats and six sheep along with their kennel’s worth of pooches.

But Lancelot always occupied a special place in their hearts: Edgar called Lancelot “an unbelievable, humanlike dog, a true companion.” Thus the Ottos had the foresight to have DNA frozen from Lancelot six years ago.

Then, last June — six months after Lance’s death — they learned the Northern California biotech firm BioArts International was holding a dog-cloning auction. They threw their hat in the ring, and won.

The cloning didn’t come cheap — the Ottos shelled out $155,000 for the opportunity. But it worked. BioArts partnered with Dr. Hwang S Woo-Suk, of the South Korea biotech research firm Sooam, to bring a second Lancelot into the Otto household.

An egg containing the late Lancelot’s DNA was placed in a Korean dog to create Lancelot Encore. Once the pup was able to leave his birth mother and go out on his own, he was flown from South Korea to San Francisco before finally making his way to Miami International Airport, where the Ottos were pacing with anticipation.

Spitting image

“He came out of the chute and he actually ran to us, so it was amazing,” Nina Otto told Roker. “He looked just like my original Lancelot, so I was thrilled. I had been getting updates and pictures over the past 10 weeks, but the real thing is what I wanted to see.”

While Lancelot Encore acted positively puppylike on TODAY, squirming and licking the faces of his new owners as they talked, Roker asked the Ottos whether it seemed “a little kooky” to spend six figures to create a new dog in their old dog’s image.

Edgar explained that the family is hardly hurting: His father, Edward, cofounded NASCAR, “so I won that lottery.” On top of that, Edgar himself started a successful medical company. But even with their family’s good financial fortune, Nina Otto sold some of her jewelry to pay the big ticket to create Lancelot Encore.

“I can always have jewelry,” she told Roker. She added the couple entered the dog cloning lottery last summer, when “the country was not in the shape it is right now.” But when Roker asked if they would do it today, they admitted, “we would still do it.”

Still, the couple have their critics. Dr. Sara Pizano, of Miami-Dade County’s animal services department, told the Miami Herald that for the price the Ottos paid for having Lancelot cloned, “we could do spays and neuters for six months.”

Edgar Otto told the paper he donates considerable sums to his local Humane Society — and promised that if the Ottos bring an 11th dog into their home, it will come from a shelter.
He admitted, “We have gotten some negative feedback from people on the price.” Yet, as Lancelot Encore squirmed in his arms, he added, "But we feel it is worth it.”

Lily The Chihuahua - Hero Of The Day!

A True Story from March 17, 2009.
I changed the names to protect their privacy.
Lily the Chihuahua lives with a family consisting of an 80 lb, eleven month old Burnese Mountain Dog, a 30 lb, 3 month old Black lab, the husband, the wife and a 17 month old toddler.
Lily is the eldest and the Matriarch of the three furry playmates, and as such keeps the two younger ones in line.
Lily is happiest when she is either on your lap being petted, or curled up on a blanket just like in the picture.
Everyone has probably seen the dog and the cat movies where one of them will take charge and lead the others back to safety or even back home when they end up miles away. Some pets will alert their owners when there is a fire.
Well, this is a true story of Lily the Chihuahua. She is my Hero of the Day.
Early Tuesday morning, March 17th, the husband went to check on the Burnese and the Lab before he left for work. The Lab and Burnese prefer being in the backyard now that the temperatures are in the 60's. Normally, the two of them greet the husband as soon as he opens the back door. However, this morning they didn't. The husband looked over at the gate leading out of the backyard and it had been knocked down.
The two dogs were nowhere to be found. He immediately began driving around the neighborhood looking for the two of them, but was unable to find them. He called the vet to let him know they had run off so that if someone found them they could be notified by scanning the embedded chip. The husband finally had to leave for work.
All three of the dogs know the neighborhood really well from being taken on regular walks. They are very good about staying around in the front yard when the husband is out working on the yard or cars. However, the young lab has a ton of energy and probably started following her nose. Although the Burnese is a very large dog, she is really laid back and was likely a willing partner to go exploring.
All this time, Lily has been in the house. She likes to stay warm and cozy and doesn't like to lounge out on the grass until the temperatures are in the 80's. The wife decides that maybe Lily can help find the two dogs. She takes Lily out onto the front porch and sets her down. Now Lily would much rather have stayed inside, so she decides to just sit there on the front porch for awhile. Lily recognizes that she can't hear her two friends and they aren't anywhere in the yard. In a few minutes, Lily heads down the street and out of sight.
About 20 minutes later, Lily returns with the little Black Lab, but the Burnese is nowhere in site. The black lab is wet and muddy. The wife puts the lab into the house but stays out front with Lily.
Lily again heads down the street out of site. Once again, about 20 minutes later, Lily returns bringing the Big furry Burnese with her.
No one knows how far away the Lab and Burnese were, and no one obviously knows what Lily had to do to get them to return. There are however a couple of things that are certain.
1. Lily brought the rowdy black Lab puppy back home. Was the Burnese there too when she found the lab and wouldn't the Burnese follow? Did Lily decide to bring the lab puppy home and go back for the Burnese?
2. Lily brought the big furry Burnese home. Was the Burnese with the lab or did Lily have to go find her when she headed out the second time?
Lily is the epitome of a tiny, lovable, 24/7 house dog. But today, Lily is a Leader and a Hero. Lily could have continued to sit on the front porch and never left the yard, but Lily knew that two of her family members were gone and she decided to go get them. Lily was obviously able to communicate to the Lab and Burnese that they needed to come home. They listened to her and she brought them home.
Lily will always be tiny and frail compared to the big Burnese and the soon-t0-be big black lab. But today, she was a tiny dog with a huge amount of courage and love for her two best friends.
They listened to her. Lily will be looked at differently from this day forward.
